Hello!  My name is Ruth and I am a widow.

Before widowhood, I was married to my husband Mike for 25 years.

Mike was extremely mechanically inclined and very handy, he could fix anything.  Since he enjoyed working with his hands so much, I paid little attention to the repairs he did or how he was fixing things.  I would get tools from the garage if he needed them, but that was the extent of my knowledge of what he was doing.

He died unexpectedly and I was in shock and disbelief at becoming a widow at a young age.  I thought we would have years left….I wanted to have many years together with him.

There was so much to do after that to take care of by myself.  I also felt so alone, I did not know many people who were widows and widowers too.

I started to slowly learn how to connect with other widows and widowers and also how to fix things and start projects on my own.  It was very rewarding to discover how fun working with my own hands could be.

I started this blog out of a desire to let others know that they are not alone in their grief journey.

I also wanted to share videos of me doing handy projects so you too can be inspired to do projects, even through grief brain and grief fog.  Or even if you have never tried before.

Hopefully by sharing my story, you will find inspiration as you walk your own grief journey, even if your path seems so dark and uncertain now.

You are now a widow and yes, you absolutely can!
